The mission’s goal is to provide Christ-centered programs to men and women to help break the cycle of self-destructive patterns and to help rebuild their lives through faith, teaching, mentorship and compassion. They serve meals every day, 365 days a year. The Phoenix Rescue Mission offers a 12-18 month, Christ-centered recovery program that includes spiritual growth, addiction recovery, life-skill development, along with educational and vocational development. The Program consists of three phases of participation: Foundations, Intensive Residential Discipleship, and finally, our Advanced Programs for transition to independence.

                                    Foundations

This is the first step to recovery. The Foundations phase runs a minimum of 8 weeks after entering the emergency shelter. During this time of stabilization, clients are introduced to basic recovery principles, and begin classes to gain understanding, obtain the basic skills needed, and develop the necessary commitment for Christ-centered recovery.

                         Intensive Residential Discipleship

The 5-month Residential Program takes clients through 3 stages of recovery: Inner Healing, Discipleship, and Job Attainment. Through guidance by an assigned counselor, each client participates in classes and group/individual counseling to analyze destructive thought patterns and behaviors, to address damaged relationships and commit to making amends, and to regain control and accountability to self and others. Clients will then assess their gifts, talents and experience that they can bring to a new life in recovery. Skills assessments, computer classes, and job search training are offered at the end of this stage of the program.

    Advanced Programs:Servant Leadership – New Start – Intensive Re-Entry

In this final phase of the program, clients prepare for independence and self-sufficiency. They have the option of pursuing and maintaining regular employment through support of the New Start track, or moving into Christian leadership through the Servant Leadership track. It’s here where program graduates step up into mentorship and service responsibilities, assisting staff in a variety of capacities. Intensive Re-Entry is an alternative track for eligible clients who are legally married, have legal mandates, or health impairments.

Changing Lives Center for Women and children

Whether escaping a domestic violence situation, battling addiction, or suffering other trauma, homeless women and children are vulnerable to even more dangers while seeking the only shelter they can find. The center is a chance to break the cycle of addiction, abuse and poverty, and to offer a fresh start to women and children. A complex combination of addiction recovery, trauma counseling, medical healing, and physical safety is essential in helping these mothers and children transition to a healthy and independent lifestyle.

                                  Hope Coach

Every day of the year, the Hope Coach van travels the streets of Phoenix, offering water, food, hygiene kits and other items to homeless men, women and families without shelter. This direct and personal ministry makes a tremendous impact, both on those giving help and those receiving help. Individuals and group volunteers are encouraged to participate in the Hope Coach Ride-Along Experience.
