Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

 

Hope Totes for Spring: The Mission’s Hope Coach hits the streets six days a week providing life-saving supplies to the unsheltered homeless. We’re currently in need of supplies for our ’Hope Totes’, in gallon sized Ziplock bags containing toiletries, bottled water, snacks such as protein or granola bars.

 

Hope Coach Ride-Along Opportunity: Ride Along with the Hope Coach Street Outreach Ministry! Hit the streets with Chaplin Cliff and experience the difference the Hope Coach is making in people’s lives. You can ride along, hand out life-saving supplies and pray with the unsheltered homeless to encourage them to come into our shelter. Serve Meals at the Mission Daily - Opportunities to serve breakfast, lunch or dinner at the Mission are available to volunteers ages 14 and over (under 18 with adult supervision). Breakfast Prep & Service 5:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m., Lunch 11:15 a.m.-1:00 p.m., and Dinner 4:15-6:00 p.m. Reserve your spot today!

 

Meal Preparation – Channel your inner sous chef and help our kitchen staff prepare meals for 200 plus people. Prep volunteers must begin two hours before the meal is served. Breakfast Servers are urgently needed – openings available immediately.

 

Volunteer at the Changing Lives Center - If you would love to rock a baby, teach a two year-old his ABC’s or spend some quality time with amazing kids, then working with the CLC Children’s Department is for you. Opportunities include teacher’s assistants, child-care helpers, just to name a few. Urgent needs are listed below: Babysitters Needed — Help in our Child Care Center while mothers in our program attend class. Positions open Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Changing Lives Center.

Group Volunteer Opportunities CASS offers many rewarding, creative and exciting group volunteer opportunities. Groups can organize a number of off-site and on-site projects that directly benefit the homeless or help CASS to build its capacity. The opportunities are endless and only limited by your creativity!Here are some ways your group can help.

 

  • Work directly with the Homeless.

  • Education is power.

  • Teach enrichment and life skills classes such as music, arts, parenting, wellness, budgeting, interviewing, etc.

  • Help to clean and maintain our facilities.

  • Sorting and taking inventory of donations in our Vista Colina Emergency Family Shelter Clothing/Food Bank and Downtown Shelter Donation Center.

  • Prepare and clean apartments for families who are entering our program for the first time.

  • Clean playground and the child development center at Vista Colina.

  • Help CASS to build capacity.Groups can volunteer off-site in their community.

  • Organize a donation drive or fundraiser to help raise items from our Wish Lists.
